Changing Face of Communications

The current business climate calls for businesses to be:-

- Reliable
- Agile
- Flexible

To achieve this the tools that business use to communicate with customers and the outside world must therefore be future ready and fit for purpose.

However when that is looked at in the modern business you will often find them relying on traditional Integrated Service Digital Network (ISDN) technology for their business communications, which are now becoming obsolete in a business environment.

With the phrase ‘always on’ an expectation rather than a bonus, moving to a modern system is becoming a necessary step for businesses that are serious about how they communicate.

Traditional Systems Are Dying

BT intend to switch their ISDN network off entirely in 2025 and the general feeling in the industry is the technology will be as good as gone within 5 years.

What is ISDN – it is a communications network that relies on a physical infrastructure – copper wiring. Due to it being a physical product it is inflexible and hard to remove/add new lines and unfortunately when things break there is no quick fix.

What to replace it with?

The solution is future proof and is SIP trunking which is a readymade replacement for ISDN which connects networks via broadband, Ethernet or a private circuit.

SIP has the following benefits:-

- Reliable
- Flexible
- Scalable
